I just spent the last hour and change cleaning out my Gallery. I've been on deviantART for 3 years and a little bit and I've posted over 100 pieces in that time. But it's time to face facts that I'm not the 16 year old who devoured whole sketchbooks in Mrs. Gooden's English class anymore. Next month I'll be 20 and next week I will have completed my first year of university at OCAD. It's time to let my gallery grow up with me.

Over the last year, I've learnt quite a lot about what it's like to be an illustrator in the design industry. I've constantly been learning how to do my craft better but in the last few months, I've been bombarded with a treasure trove of knowledge of my field. For this reason, I've decided to let my deviantART gallery mature a little by, quite frankly, posting better stuff.

It did hurt to see a lot of those pieces go but it's for the best. I'd have a stroke if I realised, then, what I know now about some of those works. Regardless, they had their run and it's now time to usher in a new era of artistry and professionalism. It actually dawned on me that I had little or no reason to be proud of some of the things I'd posted here! That's always a fun surprise.

I've even started hanging out with industry role models like , and . This week, I went to Drink & Draw Toronto and spent hours just drawing with these guys! Their work is amazing and hearing them converse about the industry, past and present, is beyond my wildest dreams as a kid coming up in Cayman. Hopefully, I'll be able to run with their crowd on the regular!

Now this may not be immediate as I still have my Visual Culture exam next Wednesday before I'm free (then I start a summer course in May) and I'm also busy on the music front with a mixtape coming out this summer. Still, I'll have far more free time on my hands and it'll be awesome to have time to myself again, just to think and draw.

So that's the low-down on what's going on. My Design Process/Graphic Communication professor thinks I'm onto something and says I have the potential to be a rockstar designer. I refuse to make a liar out of her.
